I used to think it was just kids; but I have come to realize that it's everyone. We tend to learn more easily from cartoons than from people. I had the pleasure of seeing Ratatouille. It's a great little movie. I couldn't help but be reminded of the powerful use of socially relevant messages sprinkled heavily like cheese on your favorite pizza. No doubt, children watching this one might walk away with a bit more than they bargained for and parents will be glad about it.
Some really distinct themes: (1) It's Ok to be different (2) Finding yourself means being yourself (3) Not everything can be taught; we each have a gift (4) Don't let your color, ethnicity, upbringing or etc limit you. (5) We all need help!
All good messages in a world obsessed with weight, cosmetic surgery, beauty, conformity and extreme makeovers.
