Oh Seething Unblackness...Behold the Light!

If we had no eyes, would there still be light? If we had no eyes, could we see better?
The light has a way of dominating everything, including the darkness. While the Dark would plot to destroy the Light; they are interdependent. There cannot be one without the other. No heaven without a Hell. No ground without a sky. No winner without a loser. The strongest bird with the mightiest wings must still have the air to fly.

Cry havok and let slip the wolves of Light.

With Great Power....

With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility!
(...and requires great discipline not to misuse it.)

Home for me is where the heroes are. My first friends never disappointed. Always greeting me with bright colors and dynamic action in big words, these heroes were on planes I could only aspire to. That hasn't changed much. These days I look for regular people doing extraordinary things to aspire to. Not that it requires any super-human abilities...just the will to do what is right when it may never make a difference.

A Little Soul; A Lotta Rot

I recently heard a quote that put things into a lasercut clarity. It goes like this:

You are a little soul carrying around a corpse.

- Epictetus. Greek philosopher associated with the Stoics, AD 55-c.135

Man appears on the scene of time in his arrogance assuming he is immortal like his creator. He assumes that he can do anything, be anybody, conquer any foe. Even worse; he trumpets that he can control himself. Like blades of grass, we spring up young and strong.

Like trees, we grow strong and tall and bear fruit. Like a city after the worst flood, time washes it all away leaving no hint of anything before. Our time is limited. That is the nature of things. Thus far it cannot be changed and if we really thought about it and could; would we?

Everybody cries. Everybody eats. Everybody expells. Everybody dies. If our souls have any energy left after carrying a corpse around for it's sentenced time; what freedom lies north?
